note from the
"Republic of Botswana"
in Southern Africa. It was issued in 1983.
A landlocked country and currently thought to be the birthplace of humanity, Botswana, which is mostly desert, is one of the most sparsely populated places on Earth. Interestingly is has borders with Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia and Zambia. The last is just a few hundred meters long, in the middle of the Zambezi river.

A/4 165474 • Dark brown. • The second President of Botswana, Quett Ketumile Joni Masire. He served from 1980 until 1998. He died in 2017 at the age of 91.
Back:
